About our Founder
Hello!
Katlyn McConnell, Founder and Director of Finding Hope Ministries, is originally from Chesapeake, Virginia. She is a 32 year old, single missionary, living full time in Honduras, Central America. As a young teen, Katlyn frequently participated on mission trips, sparking a love for traveling and mission work.
After graduating from Virginia Tech in 2010, Katlyn volunteered in Honduras and Nicaragua for international non-profit work for the next year. After finding herself back in the states after her year abroad, something was missing. A piece of who she became, was still in Honduras.
In February of 2013, she bought a one way ticket back to Honduras and began planting seeds for Finding Hope’s future. With a vision in mind, and a faith instilled in her, little by little Finding Hope was formed. Soon, the community and people from all over the world began to jump on board! Finding Hope acquired land, began to build, and in February of 2016, opened its doors to start accepting children!

Katlyn has been involved in foster care, most recently caring for three siblings, victims of physical, sexual and emotional abuse. She worked tirelessly being their advocate, restoring them to good health and enrolling them into school! The three siblings were with Katlyn for a year. Getting involved in foster care and learning about the system, began a deep desire to continue fostering.

Chris works for an environmental company and Anne is involved in local and international volunteer work. Her sister, Allison and brother-in-law, Dan, along with their newborn baby girl, Remy, live in Denver, Colorado.
Allison works in Pediatric Oncology and Dan works in NICU. They are involved in the foster care system, previously fostering two precious boys. Katlyn’s youngest sister Riane, is a travel ER nurse, getting to serve all over the country.
Katlyn’s home church and friends and family to Finding Hope, have been involved in Finding Hope from the very beginning, contributing to the growth and success of the ministry.
Katlyn is thankful every day for the life the Lord has given her and the ministry placed in her hands. It is not always easy, and at times takes more strength than what seems possible, but every single day is such a blessing not only to her but also the community in which she serves.
